Question Hypertech Tuner Question

I recently went to my Ford Dealer to ask what I could do to improve performance because I felt that my new 05 F150 5.4 Screw was very sluggish. I explained that my wifes 2001 Yukon XL felt more responsive than my new Screw and it is a much heavier vehicle. I asked, I could use a Tuner or would it void my warranty? I explained that I had been told that the Screw computer had something like a black box that the dealer could tell if a Tuner had been used?
They told me that as long as I used a Hypertech and returned the computer to factory settings before bringing my Screw in for service they would not be able to tell that a Tuner is being used.
My question to yall is, how Hypertech compare to other Tuners out there and if using a Hypertech and returning the Screw to factory works wouldn't other Tuners that do the same work without alerting the dealership and voiding the warranty?
Thanks for taking the time to respond, Texas

I had the same complaint with my '05 F150. The dealer reprogrammed the pcm with the latest update and it seems to have more power, but has dropped a couple of mpg's (13.3 down to 11.2). I'll wait for another tankful and see if that changes...if not I'll call the dealer again.
I'll be watching the responses to your original question to see if anyone has had good luck with the Hypertech and increasing fuel mileage and power.

i have a 05 XLt but I got the 4.6, obviously not enough power but I thought I'd be able to get some simple mods and get up to speed. I put the 40 series flowmaster on it and I'm thinking about the hypertech but i don't know what kind of help it will give. how much horsepower are you supposed to get?
