Maybe because it would cause a riot of people swarming their vehicle.

Then taking everything that's not bolted down.

Just a thought.

You remember that 60% of the Louisiana National Guard is still at home and the other 40% comes home next month. Not only that, there are plenty of soldiers, police officers, EMT's that are still in the States to take care of this problem. We're not one of those countries that scaled their military back to the bone once the Soviet flag fell from the Kremlin. We can handle ourselves, thanks for your concern though

On the issue of pollutants and coal, so is most of the world. How about you take a look at a map of world air pollution and figure out who you should be yelling at. I think that everyone here would agree that China is causing the worst amount of air pollution. The United States & Europe aren't good but are not as bad as China by a long run.

You live in Venezuala and are going to sit here and bash people for the use of pollutants? Petroleum is 1/3 of your gross domestic product and accounts for 80% of your exports. 30% of your electricity is produced by fossil fuels (coal). You have oil, sewage and urban pollution in Lago de Valencia. Somewhere around 47% of your country lives in poverty and you have a 17% unemployment rate. You also have a threat to your rainforst ecosystem due to irresponsible mining operations. So if your going to bash my country, give me a break.

If you are all upset over what Pat Robertson said about your President then you've come to the wrong place. I do not support political assasinations of people who do not present a direct threat to my country. As far as I'm concerned, you guys just keep on doing what you want down there. I'm not in support of any actions against you. Have a blast

I think what he is trying to get at, is the fact that they spend all day talking about something they could cover within 15 minutes just giving updates. Doing this they could still focus on other stories during the day time.
BINGO!

At the same time, that's the media's choice and it's a free press. So if you get sick of hearing about it just change the channel.
To what? Only effective thing to do is turn it off all together.

I support Pat Robertson...Never watched the 700 club. I kinda thought he was a religious nut job. Now im kinda sorry i didnt give him a chance or watch him long enough to figure out he is one of few on tv that have their head on straight. The more time passes, the more obvious it is that most of the US KNOWS what needs to be done by the government. Somehow, the ones in charge have a hard time figureing it out. Whats extra sad is that I voted for these guys, so, i can only blame myself for the failure of the government. I voted for them because i thought they would represent me....thats what a democracy is, right? I held up my end of the deal, why can't they hold up theirs? Im not on the bushbasher wagon, but i no longer support the war as its begin carried out. I thought we would go over there, take care of things, and come home. Didnt realize there would be a bunch of political correctness, crying, red tape, and "oh my God, i wonder if it will offend someone if we turn this place into a plane of glass" going on. We went over there, didnt find Osama, didnt find weapons of mass destruction...we should have gone to sleep that night, woken up the next day, leveled the country, and brought our boys back home. that didnt happen and now we are just wasting time and money fighting a war of attrition.

I´m happy to hear what Mr. Pat said (as it shows Chavez´s lies don´t fool everyone), as the "President" (dictator wannabe) Chavez is a total inept, the corruption and in-justice reaching levels un-heard of, but i still think we should solve our problems by ourselves, and not wait until US decides Chavez is a threat and do whatever they think it´s needed, but still, both USA interventionism politics, and Venezuela´s pseudo-communist government have my vote against.

Venezuela is a pretty polluded country, but this has pretty much to do with the adoption of the North American consumist model, i think the capitalism is the most functional, down to earth and applicable way of life, but we also have to consider that the planet´s resources can´t be depleted in such a blind way. In the case of China, they became great polluders, but only of great importance in the last ten years or so, and they are showing increasing signal of concern in the field of ecological technology development.

Europa´s model (read EU), is, the way i see it, the way to go, they are consumists, yet they´re doing a lot of research and development of better ways to interact with their enviroment, eolic and solar energy, recicling of more products and larger success at it, adoption of alternative fuels, and many other measures.

P.S.: Are there any news from New Orleans?

There was a story I heard about a guy who was getting ready to drink some standing flood water, and the reporter down the street yelled for him to stop and that he'd give the guy his water after he was done broadcasting in a couple minutes. I like that story.

Not sure if this is a media or government concern, but has the NO city government had a daily news conference/briefing? I don't watch TV so I may be missing something, but I have yet to read something to the effect, "At the daily news conference, the NO police chief said today...". Seems like a method to convey and exchange info.
