Engine Rebuilt Kits
Hello All,
I'm gonna pull my 351M next weekend and get ready to rebuild. Has anyone had any luck buying a good rebuild kit? I found one from PAW for $610 that includes pistons & rings, rod & main bearings, timing chain set, piston rings, crankshaft, oil pump, connecting rods, camshaft & lifters and a gasket set. Has anyone else used this kit before? Can anyone recommend one? I'm trying to get quality parts that I can trust will last, but I dont want to spend a ton of money. I'm trying to rebuild the whole thing for under $1000. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

This topic has just been addressed. the topic name is >how many greenbacks?< i know that the kit mentioned has the cam, lifters, timing set, pistons, piston rings, rod/main/cam bearings, oil pump, freeze out plugs, and a gasket set. These kits are of very good quality as i have recently built a 302 with one. Northern Auto Parts is a very consumer frindly compnay and will substitute any high performance part for the stock counter-part for the difference in the two.

I would never buy machined parts from PAW. I bought a kit for my truck from them and the rods ended up being wrong and it cost me an extra $1000 to fix their screw up. I spend close to $4,000.00 with them and had a major problem just getting thru to customer support.
The final straw was when they wanted me to ship the engine down to them so they could look at it then I'd have to pay to have it shipped back. I think the shipping would have been several hundered.
Buying locally may not be the cheapest but at least you can go back without having to ship something.
PAW does not pay attention to the machine work they do, they are a high volume setup.
