I wanted to get a set of painted to match door handles with buckets as seen here http://www.dieselperformanceparts.co...que=FORDBLACK4 but my truck (2005 Excursion) only has a keyhole on the driveside. Is this normal? I cant find a set of these that only has a driveside keyhole. What does your X have? That or a true metal, chrome handle not a stick on type and not with matching chrome buckets thats too much chrome (is there such a thing?) Or maybe mix both and get the painted buckets with real chrome handles. Either way I cant find any of these setups

Is that $179 for the pair? Man that's expensive for painted door handles, you could just paint your's for maybe $30 worth of materials and an afternoon of work.
It was $179 for all 4. I was thinking about painting them but they are a bit rough and need to be sanded up as well and I was worried how well it will stick.
Just went through this for my '05 Ex XLT. I only have a keyhole on the driver's door.
The aftermarket stainless steel or plastic "covers" just don't fit.
There is a company that makes an aftermarket billet handle, but they are something like $500 a set.
I had my local dealer order a set of painted handles for a F250 Crewcab. They cannot order a particular color it seems, as blue ones came in two different blues as well as black. One was the right color.
My body shop painted these handles to match my truck. They took the actual levers out to do a better job.
If you DO NOT need a keyhole on the passenger side, simply order two for the rght rear.
The difference between factory painted ones and plain is that the ones that are painted have a much smoother surface...making it a much nicer finished piece.
Been thinking about your key hole siutation, what if you got a lock cylinder and just installed it in the handle and never used it! It woudl fill the hole, look stock and solve the issue??
trition 2002,
By the time you prime 6-7 times to fill in the grain of the stock door handle and then get paint on it it costs a whole lot more than you might think. We sell these to local body shops all the time because by the time they change for multiple primer applications they can get ours and custom paint them any color by just scuffing and shooting color.

There is something called high build primer to fill in the grain fast or just a little sanding will do it. I didn't imply to take them to a body shop, it wouldn't be worth their time to do a little project like this, just DIY and save some money.
My body shop painted the handles for a reasonable cost and they made a huge difference in the look of my rig.
In some cases, the "paddles" and the bezels are very close to one another....using a filler or high build primer may cause them to touch when being used...scuffing the paint. I know on one of mine, as the paddle opens..it goes paper thin close to the bezel.

My shop charged about $150. Truth be told, we had a bit of a trade going on, but I know they figured about $40 in materials.
I guess I spent about $160 at the dealer for the parts, and then the (for sale of arguement) $150 for painting.
The door panels came off easy, and the handles were not a bad job to swap out. In fact, the hardest part was disconnecting the clip that help the lock rod. A small shepard's hook shaped ***** got the job done.
That's why we sell the factory painted handles they end up being less costly and it's a quick change vs waiting for the body shop to paint etc. Even if you need handles that Ford doesn't have available for the factory color of you truck it's cheaper and easier to do as these don't have the grain to have to fill etc.
Come on Mark put together a package with only one key hole for me!!! I looked around and it seems the newer trucks only have one. Also what about a package with a black bucket and a true billet handle not the stick on junk.
