I have been to several local tire shops, and recieved different info. at each one regarding the largest tire I can run on my truck. I have a 99 Superduty XL 4x4 with a standard cab that I purchased to haul my 9'4" Lance cab-over camper. The only modifications are the rear air bags I just installed to accommodate the extra weight of that camper. The existing tires are 235-85-16 and are in need of replacement, and my goal is to find the largest all terrain or mud terrain that will fit without rubbing. Any Advice?

I have just been through the same decisions you are trying to make. I discovered that the 235/85/16 is the tallest tire you can fit on the stock rims safely. you can also fit a 265/75/16 but it is the same height as the 235. You may be able to talk some shop into installing a taller and wider tire onto the stock rim, but doing that will cause stress on the sidewall. If you ever load your truck up and go into the rough, this can cause problems. I wound up getting a new set of 235's because I figured that the rolling resistance would be a bit less than the 265's and I would get better milage. Plus, I need the load range E 'cause I fill the bed up from time to time. I hope this helps! It is after all, just my opinion!
