Im having problems with my 03 F-150 5.4. It had 27k miles when i got it and now it has about 38k. When i got it it was, i assume, stock except for a superchip sticker on the back window. Take that for what its worth. Since then i have had straight pipes dualed out the back. Now to the point. When i got it it felt strong, had good "get up and go" both from a stop and a roll. The wierd thing is that it wont turn the tires over even when holding the brake. The only time it would break loose was in the wet and then it had horrible wheel hop. Ive driven other 150's both with and without a tuner and mine feels stronger and shifts firmer than both. At first i thought it was the fact that the tires where bald and it was getting too much traction. When i bought new tires all that was cured was the wheel hop. Is my truck down on power or is it possible that it has a tuner and the trans settings have been changed. Also i have checked the ecu and it doesnt have a chip. Is there a way to check if a tuner has been installed. Thanks in advance.
Is this a 4x2 or 4x4? LS rear or open? Stock size tires? Just cause it won't break the tires loose doesn't mean you're down on power, it might be the rear end ratio. You probably lost just a little bit of low end torque with the dual pipes.
I have an 01 s/c 4x4 with a 5.4 3:55 LS and mine won't break em loose power braking either. It's not because your engine is down on power, it's because of those damn disk brakes in back.
I use to have an 88 f150 with a 302. I know for a fact my 01 will walk all over my 88. My 88 would burn the tires off power braking down to the rim if you let it. That had drums in the back.
