I just picked up my new 06 F350 and it does something my 04 6.0/torqueshift F350 did. Under strong accelaration and ONLY between 58 and 70 mph the drivetrain buzzes. It is amplified when an aftermarket suspension is installed but both definitely did it prior to that.
My suspicion is the double u-joint assembly at the leading edge of the rear driveshaft. I don't recall that my 01 (non-torqueshift) F350 had the double u-joint and it definitely did not buzz.
Anyone out there resolve this issue? Anyone know why there is a double u-joint at the front? This is a short wheel base truck so there is no carrier bearing assembly.
Do you have the manual t-case shifter on the floor? If so, it is possible that is the problem. I had a similar issue on my old 01 and it took me and the Ford Dealer awhile to figure out what was causing the noise. I thought originally it was the throttle pedal sensor buzzing. They changed the bushing and lubed it up and all was well. Hope this helps.
No, both were shift on the fly. The buzzing is pretty dang pronounced. Nothing lube would address. It is though there is a wobble that gets amplified at those speeds only under frim accelaration. Cruizing at those speeds...zilch. Hard accelaration at any other speed...zilch. Just during those speeds and Engine RPM is also not strongly correlated to the buzzing.
