All of us have to clean the maf sensor regularly, the problem is caused by the pcv air line being next to the maf. When the engine is shut down oil fumes back up and fill the air duct and deposit on the maf filaments. This is what people complain about with th K&N oiled filters when they contaminate the maf sensor with their required oil..
Solution: purchase an inexpensive PCV filter with correct size hose fittings at Auto Zone and install at the attach point of existing PCV hose to air duct. The filter traps the oil vapors keeping them out of the air duct/maf.
will a pcv work sitting horizontal? I always thought they needed to be vertical due to the "gravity works" principal, (the check valve isn't spring loaded).
