I know there has been many posts about installing an EGT sensor and I know everyone has been saying to mount it in the exhaust manifold. My question is: I am planning to replace my exhaust from the y-pipe back, so for convenience can I mount that EGT sensor in the y-pipe? I run a '92 F-250 NA relatively stock.
you could but to get as close as possible true reading of the cylinder temp (which is what matters, the pistons melt at around 1250F) it needs to be mounted in the manifold
