I am looking for a weld on tip for my V10 F350 that will not discolor with exhaust heat. I want to go with a 4" slant cut or rolled edge look, but have heard from exhaust guys that unless I leave the stock tailpipe intact under the tip and simply slip the tip over the existing tailpipe, the stainless tip will discolor within a week. I want the new 4" tip only coming off the exhaust tailpipe, not the look of a pipe inside a pipe at the tip.

Magnaflow has a couple designs I like, but I was told they would discolor. Will they really? Is heat discoloring a big problem on tips? Is there a material that will stand up to exhaust temps?
