Well I just heard Bush is thinking about going to the oil reserves, but I find what you say to not make much sense, clarify if you will, but how does Bush order the gas prices to go up?

There is no way the president could/would do that. First off it would be political suicide for him, his family, his party and could lead to major distrust of our economy. Its going to go up some, but not because of Bush.

Everything gets blamed on the big wind storms, from the price of gas to the massive plywood shortage and higher prices....

This is why the price of a commodity goes up. Someone pipes up and says, "buy it now before the price goes up!" Everybody scrambles and buys it now, which sharply increases demand. Then the price goes up as a result of the increase in demand.

Do everyone a favor and don't fill up tonight.

No kiddin', everyone trying to fill up tonight is just going to drive the gas price up even higher.

Bush cannot "order" the gas prices to go up. He doesn't just decide what the gas prices are.

It is true that the storm may damage our gas supply and increase prices...but get the details first

One can't tell someone something as true unless they have a good enough reason to believe it's true. What you've said doesn't make much sense, so whoever told you that is also misled.

fordfan302, If you can't back up what your saying with anything other that "It's just what I heard" or "I don't know the details", your just helping to spread a rumor. It's not just you but I hear this kind of talk from a lot of other people too. I'll bet you were one of those people who went and filled up the night of 9/11 too.

Already there are lines at the gas stations here. I can see some mass hysteria- lemming- type-idiot behavior about to go down. My truck is pretty empty. But I think I'll risk it.

Wow, I guess I better "stock up" on gasoline before everyone ELSE starts "hoarding" it...

Bush has no control over oil prices. Anyone who says different is grossly misinformed (to give them the benefit of the doubt).

I have heard from sources that have been reliable to me in the past that there will be an increase in the price of gas of $0.20 a gallon tonight 8-29-05. Now let's see how reliable that information is.

I believe it is being blamed on oil refineries on the gulf coast shutting down to prevent a catastropich failure during the storm. Takes 2 days to shut down, storm will last for at least 1 maybe 2 working days, figure 4 days to come backup. It'll be down about a week.

Elvis is alive... I saw him eating BBQ pork ribs at a Denny's in Tallahassee last week. Can you believe that I've been trying to find someone who would believe me and then tell everyone they know!
