Up Our (Rant)

Oil topped 70.00/barell today. Is it just me or has anyone else realized that Opec and other major oil companies are screwing each and every one of you.
They try to blame it on this damned hurricane, but that is total bull.
It's just another one of their many excuses to rape each and every one of you.
I just can't beleive the American public sometimes is so damned naive to see this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To quote something I read in a forum above...

"Bend over, this one's gonna hurt!"

Yep, I heard $4 gas as a result of this. With the refineries this thing is going / has taken out, this is going to be a long term problem.

As long as a certain percentage of people can eat and have a roof over their head, nothing is going to happen.

After 20yrs in the Army, I thought I was used to it....

I was talking to a guy doing some window tinting for me, and he knew a mgr at one of the Safeway stations, and he was told by the mgr 3 weeks ago that they planned on going to $3. per gallon by Labor Day, because they knew they could get it and for no other reason.

Guess it's time to look at some of these little Suzuki type cars...

Well I guess that 633,000 BBls per day of oil shut in would have something to do with this?

If the oil companies are so good at raping the American public, what happened in 1999?

Give me a friggin break. Don't let our government brain wash you like Saddam did his entire country for decades. Do you think for one damned second that some stupid hurricane should be enough to cause gas prices to go through the roof while our country sits on ungodly amoutns of stockpiles and reserves which could be made back up in no time if needed for a short time span.

Not to mention, it's a damed joke what these prices have been even before the hurricane. People run like a bunch of damned fools to the pump to purchase gas for the bargain price of 2.50/gallon before prices go up even more... The joke is on the American people who are too foolish to see they are being screwed. I hope like hell the stock market plunders, then perhaps our president will pull his head out of that stupid war and do something to help his people. I'd be much more impressed with him at this point if he would lobby to get fule back to the price it SHOULD be.

You may not like it, but the US is at least partly responsible for the current gas price by attacking Iraq, which resulted in a significant decrease in their oil export. Another is that in comparison to Europe, US cars and trucks are bigger and less efficient, so they need more fuel. But the main reason is that some developing countries like China and India are buying lot more oil than they used to.

Oil is a non-renewable source with limited supply and resources, so I don't think there will be much of a decrease (aside from fluctuations) in the future. And be ready for the time when oil will top $100/barrel, because that may be on tap in the not very distant future.

Not to mention China wouldn't be buying so much oil if our govts weren't so damned busy making sweetheart trade deals with them because they don't pay their workers squat.......

As well ,40% of our fuel costs in Canada are taxes and our govt refuses to drop them or take them off the percentage scale.... This is from a govt that is running a budget surplus.....What a bunch of dinks.

Yeah, the entire fuel price issue is a big conspiracy, as is most of the decisions the goverment makes. I love America, but hate the goverment.

Read up. 3 of 7 is absolutely correct when he states that China has placed an enormous demand on the world oil resources. Sweetheart deals or whatever, China's demand for oil (energy) rises exponentially almost monthly thus making less product available to the rest of the world. When some of our own resources go down - e.g. hurricane/fire/whatever - the demand hopefully gets picked up from somewhere else usually at a greater cost.

Look, don't give this Econ 101 bull****... Our country can dump god knows how many billions at the drop of a dime for some stupid war. (Truth be know, we should have gone after Iran or North Korea), yet when a catastrophy hits us such as the hurrican, then were the ***** is all the money?

Not only does our government mysteriously not have billions of dollars to bail our country out of trouble when a homeland catastrophy strikes us, but you don't even hear one peep from another country offering to help after we dump billions of dollars on foreign land. What BS.. Wake up...you are getting screwed.

I'm suprized that more isn't being done as well, We have an Urban Rescue team loaded up and ready to go in Vancouver B.C. Canada and they are waiting for the go-ahead from the US authorities... From what I understand international protocall dictates that they wait for a "request approval?"
These guys are chomping at the bit to do what they are trained for and have to wait for the red tape to clear...... Crazy

The Canadian Red Cross and the Salvation Army here have already sent supplies and people down and are taking donations here..... This is from the Canadian news, I haven't heard squat from CNN

I just copied this from
http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/a.../30/c4532.html

OTTAWA, Aug. 30 /CNW Telbec/ - The Government of Canada today issued the
following statement in support of those who have endured the devastation
wrought by Hurricane Katrina in the United States:

"On behalf of all Canadians, I wish to extend our heartfelt
condolences to those who have lost loved ones as a result of Hurricane
Katrina, as well as our sympathies to those who have suffered great
losses and personal hardship," said Deputy Prime Minister Anne
McLellan. "During this difficult time, we are offering our support to
our friends and neighbours."

The Deputy Prime Minister added that she has contacted U.S. Homeland
Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and advised him that Canada stands ready
to provide assistance if needed. In addition, the Minister of Health, Ujjal
Dosanjh, has directed the Public Health Agency of Canada to contact the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services and offer any assistance that may be
helpful, such as emergency medical supplies contained in the National
Emergency Stockpile System.

It's great that Canada is ready to assist...but my point is that that the U.S. has no problem dropping billions upon billions of dollars on forgeing soil for whatever reasons...war's..catastrophies..etc.. But as soon as the @hit hits the fan on U.S. soil...where the ***** is all the billions of dollars? WHERE? WHERE? WHERE? Oh, did I ask where?

I wish all the people of this Country who protest such stupid issues such as PETA, and other BS nature causes would stand up and protes something that really matters worth a #**** such as our country screwing each and every one of you.

thank the mouth breathers at your local wal mart for that

funny thing, an oil guy gets into office...has no worries about being re-elected, & gas goes through the roof
what i do not understand, is why the oil companies are making "record profits"
if the cost of acquisition (sp) goes up & production costs remain about the same, where is all of this extra profit coming from???
not an economist, just a slightly pissed off redneck
Rant off
