Need Help In Indentifying Part

The big plastic part in the rear of the picture, i would like to know what it's called, what it does, and since i'm almost done getting rid of my AC, can i do without it? Cause, i can see it's connected to the AC Unit. Can anyone please help me out?

Oh ok, hmm. Well, the part i was refering to is the big box thing that is mountend on the engine side of the firewall directly in back of the AC Compressor (They're hooked up together). Know what i'm talking about?

Sounds like the Evaporator Enclosure.
