upgrading wires/plugs

I realize this may be a pretty basic question..but could someone fill me in as to the benefits of upgrading the wires/plugs? Would it be a good recommendation to do it and if so what type/brands do you suggest. My rig is due for a tune-up and just wanted to know if its worth it to upgrade? Thanks.

What do you mean by "upgrade"? As far as spark plugs, the best plugs to use are the OEM Motorcrafts. Stay away from plugs like Splitfires, and Bosch!!!

It sounds like you maintain your truck on a regular basis. The stock wires and plugs will serve you well if your truck is totally stock. No use wasting money on some sort of racing wires and plugs that you will never see any benefit from.

What franklin said...if you use good quality replacement wires (Belden, Borg Warner) etc you should be fine. As for plugs, I use NGK in everything i own.

Just remember, Anti sieze on the plug threads, especially in a 4.6/5.4,and silicone dielectric grease on the plug boots. Change the plugs with the motor dead cold
