If you do get involved, dont just shoot the guy. Yellow out, "Hey, stop it!" and walk over to him with your gun in hand. That way, if he comes towards you, at least you can say it was self-defense. If you shoot him while he is facing away from you, its going to be hard to say it was self-defense when they find you shot him in the back.
I honestly hope I never have to make that choice.

YES I WOULD!
Have you ever heard the story of a woman in New York who was raped and killed in a courtyard of a large complex of multi-story (like 17 storie buildings) and many people watched from there rooms and heard the screams and literally watched the attack but nobody called the police or went to the womans aid. NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM WAS HELD CRIMINALLY LIABLE, there was no law saying they HAD to act or had to step in or call the police to take care of it.

Granted these were probably the same kind of people that say the police should deal with everythign and they will not defend themselves, every darn one of them shoudl've been drug in the street and shot in my opinion, but like the law said they had nothing saying they had to act!

For me, I would jeopradize my own life to help in a situation involving a life or death matter of a complete stranger, it is the neighborly and uncowardly thing to do. And yes I do hold that conviction knowing I could jeopradize my own life or my own freedom!

I know I'll hear about it from some on here but in my opinion you are as worthless as the attacker if you do absolutely nothing to prevent a situation that you could possibly prevent by putting yourself in harm's way, either legally or life or death!

Honestly I hope I never have to make the choice to do so but you can bet your sweet butt that if it happens to you and I'm around, know you or not, like you or not I will do my part to save your butt and I would hope if the roles were reversed that you'd do the same for me or any other!

I live in Canada where gun laws are obviously way different then anywhere else im sure, but I know myself I would love to help out a fellow human being from a monster thatw as trying to do harm to him/her. Although to be honest I would prefer to use my fists, get way more gratification that way anyways!

Theoretically you might be reimbursed for damage to your machine.
This is the kind of thing you should never post on an open forum for fear you actually have to do it one day and a prosecutor "digs" it up.

I carry a handgun at all times because you never know when you might need it. If a situation arises where I feel endangered or I feel someone I care about is endangered I'm prepared to use it. If I can avoid it I will but sometimes you can't. I've given a lot of thought to the "what if they throw you in jail" scenario but would you want to live "free" with a concience that reminds you that you let someone else be killed because you were in fear of helping them? I say if you aren't prepared to use a weapon don't carry one. If you do plan to carry one KNOW how to use it. If I "accidently" send a bullet astray killing an innocent bystander I at least deserve manslaughter.

Could you guys who would get involved honsestly kill someone if the time comes? Really think about it, whoever you would be killing is somebody's friend, parent, child, etc, ending their life. I couldn't. Don't get me wrong, I support having the right to carry, but I don't think that many people could actually point the gun at someone, and fire it.

Yes I would...

My employer does not allow firearms on your person, so I keep my pistol in my backpack.

MT does not allow carrying in Bars, Schools, Government buildings, or Trains.

YES I COULD AND WOULD! But really hope and pray that I never have to!

Really think about it, whoever you would be killing is somebody's friend, parent, child, etc, ending their life.
And the person who is about to become a victim isn't someone's friend, parent, child etc? Please correct me if I am wrong! Let the innocent die while the criminal live on, I hope and pray if the time comes that God doesn't send you to watch my back or help me out!

Don't get me wrong, I support having the right to carry, but I don't think that many people could actually point the gun at someone, and fire it.
Some people probably can't do it. If you are saying you can't then why do you want to carry in the first place, so you can show your buddies your piece or tell people "I'm packin heat" or so you can feel all big and mighty?

I never said that I would carry myself. Personally, I would not carry a firearm, however I do believe that it is your right to if you choose.

It is my constitutional right to own and carry a firearm, so I will and always will. And yes, I could willingly kill another person who is a threat to my life, or someone elses life, stranger or not. People like that dont need to be on this planet anyways.

In Virginia, we have an open carry law, where you can carry a pistol as long as its in the open to see, without a permit.

In Virginia, one may carry a handgun in the open with no license. Loaded handguns on the seat or dashboard in plain view while in a vehicle are fine. Carrying concealed in places that serve alcohol is prohibited, even licensed, but open carry there is allowed.

It's a shame more states don't allow open carry. This would prevent a lot of impulse criminals. Punks with guns and knives seem to be of the mindset that they're the only ones with them. It's amazing how many people really do carry and I think of some of the "bad" guys had a clue how many "good" guns were standing around them they'd just go home.

here in the peoples republic of massachusetts, even if the attacter was plunging a knife into someones heart at the time, if i shot him i'd go to prison for the rest of my life and the attacker if he survived would own my house if he didn't then his next of kin wouls own my house.

Now that I dont get, a right to carry a gun is fine, but why should just anyone be allowed to carry a gun? police, sure, security, sure, but any ordinary guy walking down the street with a gun, sure doesnt seem like a good idea to me. But remember I do live in Canada where the gun laws differ, and I am not used to different laws like that either!

I have carried a gun all my life. I never had to fire one to stop a crime but I have pulled mine & stopped a robbery. I won't state I would kill for the reason posted earlier. I don't want a lawyer using a quote by me from a website to hurt me later.

I think the above idea is a bad one. First thing I would do is call the cops and write down a description and only get involved if my life or my friends or family were in danger. Walking towards a person with a gun drawn is a good way to get shot. Never show your gun unless you are going to use it.

People say "if you beak into my house I'm gonna shoot you". This (I feel) is also a bad idea. Stop and think, what would happen if you kill somebody that kicked down your door to take your t.v.

In my handgun safety class they taught to avoid pulling the trigger unless it's a last resort. Would you rather replace the $300.00 t.v. or get sued by the family of the person you killed for $3,000,000.00?
