So goes the idea that they do not want to put there name on smaller truck engines, never mind that they have a 7l that will fit and to boot it is straight 6 as diesel should be, heck they'll put there name on a lawn mower engine. I hope that ford signed with Cat. Then they'll have a great I6 tow motor.
I think that it would beneficial to Ford, Navistar, and CAT to let the consumer choose. Give the option of the two and see which one sells better. Ford and Navistar have had a great relationship for many years. If I could get a cat I6 in an F250 I'd buy one in a heartbeat. I like the Power Stroke, but they did away with the 7.3 and to me the 6.0 hasn't been around long enough in the F-series to prove itself. I know there are millions on the road with no problems, but then there's the 20% or so that did....
Just a quick question, if Cat doesn't want to ruin their name, why did they put it on really crappy work boots made by wolverine? Own a pair they suck, just wonderin
"The Caterpillar C1.1 is a three-cylinder, naturally aspirated, indirect injection diesel engine producing 28 horsepower (20.9 bkW) and 43.5 lb/ft of torque at 3400 rpm. Like all Cat compact diesels it features Tier 2 certification, single side servicing, and the ability for multiple rebuilds. This engine series is setting a new standard for power, torque, reliability, quite operation and low cost of ownership in the landscaping and lawn care industry."
I have a cousin who tests engines at the Mossvile plant in IL, I think I heard him rumbling about some new partner deal in a couple of years, I will get ahold of him and see what he says, maybe get a name.
If Ford offered a CAT diesel engine in their trucks, I'd go for it in a heartbeat, the Ferris 4500 mowers have the 3 cyl Cat diesel engine, and are from what I hear REALLY good machines.
Cat makes some real good stuff as far as engines are concerned, but I dont know everything.
I think the best thing about CAT is that they value the brand. They understand thier customers and aren't willing to stuff them around.
CAT supplied a local mining company with 4 new off-road mining trucks - mostly manufactured in Mexico, assembled here in Australia.
There was some severe issues with the quality of the metals used in the manufacturing process.
CAT replaced all of them with good units within 4 days of the issues surfacing.
i bet that the twin turbos that the 6.4 will have is based on the accert technolgy thats where some of the rummors are comming from. just like the heui fuel system
like mentioned above. as far as there other motors (c13-c15) there the best around. i would not put a cummins,detroit-mercedes, if they gave them to me.
