Alright I cant get the fuel lines off the filter on my 95 f-150. I went to replace it and took the clips off but the lines wont pull off. On any other Ford I've worked on, All I've had to do is pull the clips and the lines come right off no problem. Maybe this babys been on there too long and is being a stickler? Any ideas?
I actually went to my neighbors and got his. Tell the parts store when you go to it to get ur filter to also get the spring expander tool. All you to is clip it over the fuel filter line (Not the fuel line itself) and the clip will actually slide into the fuel line and widen the spring and then the line will pull off. Let me find a picture of this tool and ill post it...
http://www.calvantools.com/products.html Go there and then look at the first thing under engine tools item number 684. That piece actually slips over the filter line and then the skinny part slides up into the fuel line, releasing the spring. make sure you let the pressure out, I learned that the hard way.
You will still get a minimal spray off gas even if the pressure is bled. There is a hose full of fuel above and behind the filter, have rags on hand, and something to catch the spillage.
Don't forget to protect your eyes. Bathing in, swallowing, or sniffing gas isn't too bad, but in the eyes is the worst. That fuel filter is tough to release for some reason, I have the tools and it always sticks or the springs are deeper and it is hard for the release tool top get in there, I'm not sure. I would release the fuel filter bracket from the frame rail, remove two bolts and nuts and it is a bit easier to handle.
That is interesting idea, bust the filter, it is going in the trash anyway...
I like it!
You could prolly just cut the filter ends with tin snips, close to the filter body.
Quicklook, Im down about 60 miles northwest of columbus, around bellefontaine. I didnt even think about cuttin the ends off the filter. Learn somethin new every day I guess. Just be sure that you dont cut or break em off too close to the fuel line, or ull prolly never get that cut or broken piece back out of that line.

Yeah, if you have the lines with the little clips inside the the line piece that the filter snaps into I dont suggest cutting the lines. Inserting the right tool to depress the hidden snaps and sliding the line off is the way to go. Trust me, I just tried the cut the filter method (my first time changing fuel filter). You still need to insert the tool to release the snaps but now you don't have much filter stem left to grab and pull out. I spent some time with the dremel sanding the filter stem piece that was crimped from being cut so that I could insert the tool. With the tool in there I had just barely enough filter stem left to grab with a pliers and slide out. Not the easy way, but mission accomplished. I need a shower and a stiff drink.
It is definitely a job where once you look inside the fuel line piece and see the snaps it all makes sense. This will be easy next time.
