Options? I don't know of any other than the few trucks I've seen with the fluid coolers on them...and those are original. The box is a lot heavier than one might think. If you do it on your own, wrap a rope around the body of the box, sling the rope outside between the hood hinge and cab, bring the rope along the outside, tie it onto the radius arm....this way when you get the three retaining bolts loose you can untie the rope (other hand on box) and gently lower it down and out. Just be prepared - they're heavy. Inspect the frame for cracks when it's off. You'll need a big socket and breaker bar to get the big nut off and on. You'll need a puller also.

this isnt too bad of a project. i did mine in about a day, would be shorter if i were to do it again, maily cause the puller i had was too small and i didnt have a nut large enough. but it is a two person job when you go to unbolt the box from the stearing collum. i just removed the stuff above the box, washer fluid res, and the brake lines, and it puilled right out the top.i paid about 150 for one at autozone, courese my truck is a 77 buty it should be the same if not similar.
