Under light to medium acceleration, the truck feels like it shifts, but the tack just hovers around 2000 while you speed up from maybe 20 to 50 mph. It never drops like you would expect it to when you hit a gear until it reaches OD. Seems like a lot of sliding and hunting but no solid gears. Under heavy acceleration, the gears seem much more defined. I'll probably ask the dealer at my 1st oil change but thought I'd see if anyone has some input on this.
week0019,
Your truck sounds like my truck, 05 F150 Scab 4x4 5.4 3.55LS Borla exhaust 2000 miles. It seems to go ok when you step on it but I get that same shift feeling. Also, noticed it doesn't want to hold OD very well at 70 mph when going up inclines empty with 2 people in it. My 94 Bronco, stock gears, bigger tires, 351W, holds OD going up relatively steep inclines towing a 3000lb boat!!! Towed my boat the other day with it (maybe 1500-1700lbs) and the Bronco does a much better job!! Doesn't seem right to me. That reflash might be in my future too.
There is a couple of things that happen when in overdrive and under light acceleration. The first is that the torque converter unlocks. This does feel like a shift, but the rpm only goes up a couple of hundred rpm. The next is it will downshift to 3rd. This brings the rpm even higher. Then second, and so on. With the torque converter, it almost feels like a 5 speed.
Thanks for all the feedback. What does a PMC reflash do? I assume it would just change things if they are not how they were supposed to be when it was built. Is this correct?

Yeah, under light acceleration the trans will shift into gear(OD) and then lock up the converter once you back off the throttle a bit. This can feel like the trans is hunting or slipping or even shifting a 5th time. What your feeling is a combination of shifting and torque converter lockup.
