429 motor identification

429 motor identification
I've got a line on a 1977 f-250 4x4 with a 429 motor and c-6 auto. Could this motor be ordered in this year? Also how can I tell for sure by looking at it if its a 429? It says 429 C.I.D on the valve cover but I want to be sure. THanks

To the best of my knowledge, the 429 was not offered in the truck line, they got the 460. Check with the crew in the "77 truck" forum or the "385 engine series" gang.
