Tfi

87 Bronco II 2.9 4x4
Does anyone know what type screws hold the TFI to the Dist.(Star, Hex, Philips, Socket) I'm trying to replace it without pulling the dist. But cant find the right tool.

Mine was a normal slotted but I'd look at it with a small mirror to be sure ...Its very tight in the so I used a alan key like screwdiver but there are very short stubby drivers that will do the trick ....It's very tight in there and if ya dont line the screw up it'll crack the plastic on the tfi and then its a bit iffy if it will be ok to use it ....So if i did it again I'd take the distributor out to be safe cause those tfi's are very important to your b II. I learned from experience by cracking mine and then spending another cool 90 bucks for a new one then took out the distibutor to do it right.

It is a thin wall socket and if I remember correctly it's 7/32" Or you can buy the wrench at Autozone for 5 or 6 bucks.
