69 429 Thunderjet

Was there 2 different fireing orders for 429s ?Like pre 72s ?Im gettin rdy 2 put new intake and carb on my motor and some 1 told me that 69 429s had a different fireing order.Something about center 2 cylinders on right and left .I have stock intake and it matches my books # 15426378 .I had a prob with fouling plugs and herd it was carb.Plugs were black carbon like.Not gummy.I had stock intake and carb.I just got a edelbrock intake and carb,hope this works lol motor as all new now .Thx

I have never heard of 2 different firing orders for the 385 series engines, but even if there are it's the cam that decides the firing order anyway example of this is if you were running a small block the 302, and 351w have different firing orders (until the later model 302s went to the 351w firing order that is) but you could run the 351w cams in 302 by just changing the firing order. so what I am saying is if your in doubt pull a valve cover get the engine to the place where number one cyl intake valve is opening then just turn it by hand and right down what order the intake valves start to open as you turn it through 2 complete revolutions this will tell you for sure with no doubt what the firing order for the cam is.
But like I said I have never heard of a different firing order on any of these engines they should all be the same even the 68, and 69 429s.
