Starting to hear a valve ticking sound on my 99 Navigator. Should I switch oil brands, or composition to help?

Does the 99 Nav. have the DOHC or the SOHC, can not remember when they swaped in the Nav.'s?

I think it was just the first year of the Nav (98) they had the SOHC 5.4L motor. 99-04 Nav's had the DOHC 32v InTech engine.

kwaskow, what brand of oil do you use now? What weight is the oil? Is the oil synthetic or dino oil?

Usually motorcraft, synthetic blend 5w30.

Not to put a scare into you but that sound has also been noticed by many who have gone on to blow out a spark plug. I certainly would check them to see if any have worked loose. Alittle bit of labor might save you big $$$. Good luck.
