Hi everyone it is nice to meet you all. my problem is i have a 77 ford F100 4.9L. The problem is i cant set the mixture on the carter yf carb. Whether i turn the screw in or out there is no difference in the way it runs. I hope someone knows the answer. Again nice meeting you all and thanks.

I also have a 77 ford F150 4.9L (190,000 miles on it) with the carter 1-bbl. Check to see if any of the mounting screws on the carb or the hold down nuts are loose. This is a very common problem with the carb. When I rebuilt mine, I used locktite on all of the screws and (knock on wood) haven't had any come loose yet! The loose screws or mounting nuts can cause a vacuum leak which will make your idle adjustment screw next to worthless. I would also check all of the vacuum lines and caps to make sure that you don't have a leak. The carter yf carb is somewhat temper mental but once you get it dialed in right it works good. I get 17 mpg in my truck and when I got my emissions check done last month the guy said my truck would have passed 2005 car standards. Hope this helps!!
