I have had several 73 to 79 fords,all with 302's in them. I have put duals on them with a glass pack on backwards and have gotton a nice sound with a nice rap. I now have a 78 short box with a 351 in it. I have gone through a couple sets of mufflers and different size exhaust pipe and tail pipe size's. I'am at a 2 in straight pipe with a H pipe installed. Still, sound is not good and no rap. Any ideas? Thanks

 

You that by moving the mufflers or whatever closer to the exhaust manifolds or farther away from them will change the sound dramaticaly. I believe the closer they are the louder they are, especially when the engine is braking.

 

I have found pipe diameter makes a difference also, I found 2 1/2 " pipes to have a deeper less poppy tone than 2" pipes.
