where's reverse, first...
I just had the clutch redone in my '80 F100—it was a mess and the bellcrank was binding, twisting the frame and lifting the engine (a little tough on the sciatic nerve).Works great now, the problem of finding and getting into a gear seemed to be fixed...until today when I went to back up I couldn't find reverse or any other gear...kind of like stirring a straw in a finished drink.This one problem I had before I had the clutch fixed. I'm guessing the trans linkage is culprit now. The linkage is inside the trans tower (2wd, 4spd manual trans). Is this easy to fix or does the tranny have to come out? Any information is appreciated.

When i took my shifter out i left the tranny in 2nd and the first time i put the shifter in what i thought was 2nd it would go in but not enguage what ever it was supposed to,
So i pulled it out and felt around alittle and got it in right.
That might be your problem

Sounds like the clutch isn't disengaging and/or the the gears aren't lining up.
1st and Reverse aren't usually sinchronized. Let the clutch part way out and then back in. Then try to put in gear.
