I have an 05 Explorer XLS and have the same question!
I've done my research and come to the conclusion that I NEED to upgrade the air intake, not just the filter.
(I had a 00 Taurus SEL with a K&N, I always averaged 310 miles to a tank and it had some pep. Put one my dad's 01 Lightning and then we switched it back to a paper 6 months later. He could tell NO difference with performance or gas milage. We are interested in the AIRHOG to see what it will do. It seems identical to the K&N.)
I this worth the money to do this??? That's alot of money.
