2004 Explorer Fog Lights

Both of my fog lights still run, but I noticed the covers are cracked. I know I need to buy new lights, but is there suppose to be a plactic proctive lens there also?

Also the manual is unclear and I have not looked under the hood yet. How do you get to the screws to replace the lights? Is it from under the hood or does the front section of the grill pop loose?

To remove the fog lights you need to unscrew (3 on each light) from the back. Lay under the front end, it's pretty easy to locate but a bit rough on the fingers/hands to get to them.
