Modular Engine

can someone enlighten me on what exactly a (modular) v8 is....

modular engines that Ford is currently using are the 4.6, 5.4 and 6.8. Simply put the engines share a lot of the same parts to help reduce cost. The 04 5.4L 3V shares its cyclinder head with the 05 4.6L 3V in the Mustang. Also the pistons are the same in all motors. The 6.8L is the 5.4L with 2 extra cylinders. The list is a lot larger but you get the idea.

It is nothing new 289/302 back in the day were similiar.

no push rods and overhead cams.

I've Been Told, Don't Know If It's True, But In Todays Engines A Dealer Will Not Perform Internal Repairs The Engines Are Exchanged. Sounds Kinda Far Fetched But On Well!
