OK guys, just a quick question. My buddy has a stock 05 ford mustang shaker 1000 radio that he took out and replaced it with an lcd setup. Now my question is, would I be able to insert this radio into my 2002 explorer sport with out having to mess around with the wiring to much and also would I have to worry about the stock anti-theft device not working correctly if I did switch em out. Thanks for looking guys.
Gidday. I am not an authority on these as there are not many in Australia.
However I used to own a car audio shop, and also own an explorer with aftermarket radio. There is a factory amp in the rear quarter panel in the explorer which can be very temporamental. Even if you have to re wire your speakers (tap in) it will back feed to the amp and disort at medium volume. The older explorer has a pre amp unit and this is where the worries lie. If the Mustang has a pre amp unit installed you will have to find the trigger wire to power the amp up and so on.
If you experiment too much, you can fry the amp or the head unit.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Nick
also i will add, i own a 2002 sport trac, it runs the old style serial blade inputs, where as my girlfriends 2000 mustang has the newer din plugs. finding an adapter to mate the two may end up impossible. my thoughts are, go out and spend a couple hun on a new deck, and by the install kit. the deck in your buds mustang is not the hot component it is the amps and speakers, the deck just compliments them.
