Post VIN I.D.

I own a 1978 F-150 that has a VIN # of F15GLAG8155. All the reference
books that I've checked explain that F15 is a F150 2WD, G is the code for V8/302 2BBL 73-80 and L is the code for the Michigan Truck Assy. Plant. My question is the remaining 6 digits (AG8155). This, as most books I've read, should be the consecutive Unit Number but I am confused as to what the AG stands for? Shouldn't the last 6 digits be
all numbers?

Thanks for the info. The books I have seen do not explain that at all.
