Rear disc brake conversion
Rear disc brake conversion
I am a big fan of 4 wheel disc brakes, and would like to convert my 92 Bronco to rear disk. Has anyone done this on a Bronco or F150. I know the newer trucks come with 4 discs stock. I am looking to basically do it myself, as I don't really pay people to work on my vehicles. I am not against changing the whole rear end if anybody knows if it will bolt in. Please let me know what you have encountered in doing this.

There are a couple factory rear disc applications that will bolt in, but the biggest problem you'll encounter is the bolt pattern is different. Newer trucks use a metric pattern, and older 8.8 disc brake axles are 5 x 5, not 5 x 5.5 like your truck needs. Jeffsbroncograveyard.com sells a conversion kit, but it is pricey and doesn't include calipers. No matter which way you do it, you're probably going to have to redrill your rotors or carry two spares.
