limited slip question
I cleaned off the tag on the rear end of Mulberry, and after consulting the shop manual, found out I have a 9" with limited slip. The other day, however, I found myself having to back up a steep gravel driveway. How embarassing when the drivers side rear wheel started spinning like mad. I had to lock the front hubs and engage the transfer case to back up the hill.
I admit to having limited (hah) knowledge of limited slip, but shouldn't it work in reverse? Or is the limited slip toast and the rear end needs rebuilding? Thanks for all help.
Mulberry is a 79 F-150 4x4, 351M,C6,NP205.

If it really does have a limited slip, then its probably worn out. Some of the newer replacement stuff for that rear end is stronger than the original. I had a US Gear posi unit intstalled on mine

the limited slip should work anytime your wheels are slipping-----you may need to drain your oil and go back with new oil and some of the friction modifier---www.neosyntheticoil.com -----4 ounces in a bottle , or you may need to order and install a new clutch pack---as old as your truck is (79) i would look at a clutch pack.........fd
