Cyclone Power Fan

I have a brochure of a Cyclone Power Fan. It alleges that at 2500 rpm that my stock fan is robbing me of 30hp. Can this be true or is the marketing a little sketchy? I have a 99 with and autotranny.

Thanks

At that RPM with the stock fan clutch engaged (= engine pretty hot) probably true. The thing that tells me the Cyclone would work well is full size semi-trucks use a very similar setup instead of a thermal activated one. Plus it can be wired to work at idle when your A/C needs the air flow across the condenser so it will improve your A/C when stopped.

No I do not work for them or own stock in the company. I am contemplating buying one and have 30+ years in trucking and truck maintenance so I am a bit familiar with how they work.

They sound good, but I have heard that they do not make one with enough air flow for the superduty. If they do get one to market it may help. One place it would help would be when you are backing a trailer up and the transmission does not get enough air flow to keep the temps down. A bamk of four fans may do better and they could be staged on as the temp goes up. Of course they would need to move the same CFM as the stock fan does at max RPM so you would not get too hot.

And not only that, think about the electrical draw that would be required to produce all that airflow. I think you would be eating alternators for lunch. Or worse, on a long hard pull with a load up the mountain pass, they can't keep up like a clutch fan would and you have to pull over just to keep from boiling over.
