98 Explorer A/C question

My accumulator has a leak and I am going to replace it. The book says add oil to the accumulator (whatever was in the old one, plus two ozs.???) If my accumulator was leaking, how do I know the correct amount?

Put 3-4 oz in it, you'll be ok. It's not an exact science. The engineers would want you to remove all components, drain them all, and add like 4 oz to condenser, 2 oz to evaporator, 4 oz to compressor, etc, etc.. but we all know that's just not practical.

You might want to replace your oriface tube while you've got the accumulator off as well... it's less than ten bucks, and probably clogged full of junk.

Good luck

It's where you would put in the freon... disregard that unless you've already installed the part. Just pour it into the opening in the tube just before intallation.
