I just bought a 1985 bronco II. The temp gage is always right up to the top of the normal line. I have flushed the radiator and it seems a little better. It is an idiot gage and not a temperature gage but I was just wondering if it should be closer to the middle of the normal bracket? It is a v-6. Do they tend to run hot?
Ohh and I'm sorry I didn't notice! Welcome to FTE too! We should help ya out quite a bit with this beastie, and before you know it, it'll be a honda eating machine.
Went through this with mine this summer, till I replaced the fan clutch. Now no more over heating... rides right in the middle of the gauge, AC on and 100 deg temps... stop and go traffic.
Easy way to check... look at the front of the fan clutch... oily residue= probably bad. Drive your truck til its showing hot... shut it down, and then manually spin the fan. The clutch should hold when it shot, so if it spins free, clutch is bad.
