thats nice..typed out a post and site crashes...memories of hotmail hell!..so here i go again...good thing i got lots of time on my hands
my tranny got hot and leaked about a litre up the vent tube i guess cause it has not leaked since my trip last month....so i want to put a fan driven trans cooler in but i have no more room up in the grill...any ideas??..oh and should i change my fluid thats only 6k miles old??
i got a big tru-cool and mounted it up high on the passengers side on the front of the ac condenser... it gets lots of air going down the road, and when you are sitting at a light, the radiator fan is pulling air through it... as it is the first thing inline to get air it gets ambient temp air.... a fan isn't needed for my towing application... check out my post...
You didn't say what you did to get the tranny hot. Don't put another cooler in till you are sure you know the cause. You didn't say how hot it got, and how you know that. Your signature doesn't mention a tranny temperaturre guage or a heavy 5th wheel.

first to comment on the cooler suggestion..i only have 4x 12 inches above my intercooler for another trans cooler but i supposed that would double the current stock coolers duties....as for why i have a pop-top camper and a utilty trailer i use to tow my 12'foot zodiac so in total under 2000 lbs....therefore i dont have a temp gauge for the tranny as thats the most weight i have on ever unless i get a moose this fall!..i was doing 80 up the coquilhalla to kelowna and it get close to 4500' and it got the warmest ive seen it since i got the pyro w/the I/C installed 6 weeks or so ago...pyro hit 900 degrees post turbo for a second or 2 b4 i backed off...i had beaten a duromax up the hill and was starting the descent into the okanogan....i have the scmt set at high perf...fluid is bright and smells brand new..no errors and everthing runs perfectly...knock on wood
hey thanks johnny8...i talked to my tranny guy and he suggested the same thing so im getting a tru-cool 5"x 12" installed in series high up above the intercooler and hes gonna pump out the not so old fluid to be on the safe side...i think that should be good enough..like he says to it twice what i had so
