f150 5.0L TPS problems
I am getting a code 32 (TPS) on the old 1988 f150, 5.0 liter V8. Checked it as outlined in manual. It was way out of range: 3.93v-low, 4.95v-high. Verses spec. .05v-low, 5.0v-high. This thing will run normally when I can get it started, however the codes must be cleared to do so. How is this possible? Does the computer have a line in the program to deal with this much intolerance? I pulled the TPS off the throttle body and checked the full range with a screwdriver. It was the same result. I was expecting to see a long flat spot in the movement at the beginning of the rotation, however the 3.95v was at the beginning of the rotation. I know the reading was 3.95 not .395 because I thought of what you are thinking also, and rechecked it several times. What is going on with this? Has anyone been here and done that before?

I use an ohm meter to check mine. 3 or 4,000 ohm closed throttle and 350 ohm at full throttle. Slowly turn the sensor a few times to see if the ohm meter moves nice and smooth. If it meters out of range or has dirty movement, replace it ($60 CAD, OUCH!). You can clear error codes by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. ...Terry '90 F150, 302

Thanks, This is the 2nd one I put on there and I wonder about the quality of it due to being purchased @ AutoZone. This one only had about 70,000. I got almost 200,000 out of the original equipment part. And, yes I know, what do I expect? The thing is on 307,722 miles as of today.
