If you saw my other post you know I'm going to look at another engine tomorrow. This one I have the oppurtunity of doing a compression test before I decide to take it. What should my numbers be to really pass the test and be considered a good engine. I'm not looking for perfect but just something I wont have major problems with for the next few months. My guess was 100lbs, but is there another accepted number?
The actual number is not as inportant than that they are all close to the same . My old 351W that was in my truck was worn out, but it has 125#. As long as they are all within about 25# ypu should be ok.
Be sure that the throttle is wide open while testing. The gauge that you hold in the plug hole by brute force does not always give the same readings as the type that screws in the hole. If you get readings around 120 to 140, it should be ok.
