Simple/Stupid question
I need to change the valve cover gasket on a 1989 - 7.3 diesel (non-power stroke). Went to the parts store and they had a cork and rubber set of gaskets. Which would be better, and do they still need permatex applied.

Black rubber by Felpro is good, use no adhesive just really clean surfaces. Torque is 6ftlbs or tight, do not overtighten.... re torque in a week. Ensure the valve cover sealing surface is flat and straight, use a 2x4 as straight edge and a soft faced hammer.
I got some silicone ones once (Victor Rienze??) thought they would be catsazz but they sucked big time since they stretched and could not be reused.... at $35 per set.
