Gear Shift Indicator
I have a '99 F-150 4.6 L, auto trans, with 112,000 miles. Recently the shift indicator skipped a notch over to the right. i.e. Park shows R, Reverse shows N, etc. Any suggestions on correcting this?

Underneath your dash board locate your steering column. follow it up to right before it goes through the dash panel and look for a cable(mine is black with a white plastic clamp holding it to the steering column: (97 F150 4x4). This will be your gear selector cable. there should be an adjuster nut(plastic black nut) in the cable right where it is mounted to the steering column.Turn that black gear nut till it gives you the correct shift indication. You might have to fool around with it a little to get it right. If this doesnt work check your cable linkage from the transmission to the steering column and make sure its not binding or broke.
