There is an option on the E-350 list = Daytime Running Lights.
I don't have them on my '05, but because my wife is handicapped (uses hand controls) I think it would be a good idea. I've asked my local Ford dealer if these Daytime Running Lights can be retro-fitted, he said NO!
It seems to me it's probably only a relay of some kind. Can anyone help me to get Daytime Runnlng Lights functional on my E-350 (Chateau).
I think there's a little more to it. I don't see why it couldn't be done though since we're making them from the factory with it. The next one I see with Daytime's on it I'll try to make a note of any significant differences (wiring). We don't run too many with DRLs. I'll try to look into it Monday if I can remember.
1. I think Canada requires DRL's so I'd think that these vans are built ready for them.
Yes, I believe you're right ColonyPark. We used to refer to them as Canadian running lights. I've just never bothered to notice what components were different versus a standard vehicle.
The fellow at my Foprd parts counter couldn't find anything regarding DRL, so he called some Ford Central place and was told in short order that nothing was available.
The DRL option is only $45; it can't be a major modification.
Anyone know a Ford dealer that can help? In the meantime, I'll send a note to Sav-a-Life. Web Electric only works on turn signals. There are some on eBay, but nothing E-350 specific.
According to my 2004 Electrical manual it looks like you just need the "Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) Module" and nothing else. The module plugs into connector C1030 on the cable for the lights and horn. It's on the top rail of the front frame slightly to the right and above the horn. The 2004 and 2005 econoline accessories catalogs show the base part number as 13B218. Dealer installation is recommended. I guess the dealer should know it exists then, huh. I don't get it, the part is listed right in the factory acceassories catalog but the dealer can't find it.

It has a module with no less than 7 wires and NO plugs...each wire must be spliced into other wires with butt connectors. No wonder Ford says to have it done by the dealer. The frustrating part is that there's a space for a DRL module in the fuse panel which is not mentioned at all in the instructions with the F6RZ-13B218-AA. On other web sites there are instructions for truck DRL's that include only plugging in a module and resistor.
Looks like I'll need to contact a Canadian dealer to find out more about the factory installation cause I don't want to hack into the factory wiring.
Did you look for connector C1030 on the cable for the lights and horn on your van? I'll try to look at mine today and see if the connector is there. According to the electronics manual it doesn't look like you would need to splice anything. I bet your dealer doesn't have a clue about anything not in the instructions you got with the module.
