weird shaking and clunk
I have a 98 explorer sport 4x4, 4.0L 5R55E. I have been having problems with the 4x4 lights blinking, but haven't had time to fix that since i've been in the process of moving. Today, driving it to my new home, I went over some speed bumps. When the front went over, it was fine, when the back went over it felt like something was shaking back there, it did each time, almost like it wanted to fall apart and a clunk was accompanied with it. The 4x4 lights had stayed off all day until the 2nd speed bump, then they started blinking. My question is, are these two problems due to the same thing, or did i just shake something in the transfer case? I also have a clunk when i come to a stop, it is like it is shifting into first and clunks, only does it downshifting, so i can't really tell if it's shifting or what. I just had the tranny rebuilt a couple weeks ago, and bought the thing july 1st, did the tranny the week after after losing first gear. Did the rebuild guy screw something up? I mean, my 4x4 didn't have problems until after taking it to him. It has a 6 month warranty on it, so I think I will take it back to him regardless, but I would like to have a few others opinions on this.
