Can somebody assist me at decoding this front differential code? 409 D8TA-AGC 610040-4 I have looked all over Dana's sight and can not find it, unless I'm lookin in the wrong places. I found this layin in my friends garage floor. He has no use for it and I may need an extra one if I screw up this winter. Thanks in advance.
These axle code tags are Ford specific so it's doubtful that Dana would have anything on their site pertaining to it. Have you tried your local ford dealer they should be able to tell you what you've got.
I'm hoping to decode the tag on my my rear diff as well. According to the door tag, and Mil1ion's decoding page, I have a Dana 61 with 3.31 gears. I've copied down the stuff from the diff tag, would it have more info on it?
Thanks for all the help! Will that match very well to a rear Dana 60 w/4.10 gears? If so, it would be ideal for me to hang on to, seeings that I have a 78 f250!!!
That is the front axle you have in your truck now or should have anyway. The front is always one number off from the back to make it steer right. It will also make that bucking thing while backing up in 4 wheel on a dry surface.
That is the same ratios that I have in my 77 F250 4X4.
