update on possible transfer case problem

A few weeks ago, I wrote about a "thud" just after putting the exped. in reverse and then it would seem like it was slow until it was in drive a little.

Well we took it in to a Ford dealer, they went through everything including:

hooking it up to a diagnostics machine, no recalls...(what a surprise)

checked the brakes

checked the sensors on the transfer case

dropped the transaxle, all differencials (?) were good

and of course the noise wasn't there for them, no matter what they did.

after bringing it home, we were thinking maybe it was the emergency brake, I've complaining prior to having it too low to the floor to catch, it was adjusted and since then our emergency brake light wouldn't shut off at times. Maybe this was the problem, who knows?

Just thought I'd fill you all in and thanks for the replies...

PS...this morning,

Ok, so we didn't put the emergency brake on last night, our driveway is a slight incline (car pulled in to driveway)

as my husband backed out

yep!

there was the thud or clunk.

GO FIGURE!

I guess we have to get the Ford mechanic here!

Sounds like the dealership checked a lot of stuff they didn't need to check. Just a guess, but maybe a valve is sticking in the tranny somewhere??
