87 into a 76
I have a 76 360 4 spd 4x4 with a real tired motor. I just saw an ad in the local paper of a 87 f150 4x4 4 spd 460 truck for sale with a good motor and bad body. Will the 87 front mounts fit the 76 frame? Will the 87 460 4spd mate to my transfer case? I went through the archives and read a lot of threads but couldn't find any that really fit. I'm assuming that I can get a lot more for my dollar from the 460 than I can from building the 360. THANKS

THE MOUNTS WILL NOT WORK! there have been many threads and much discussion about this swap. a 460 is a 460, no matter what year it is. they all mount the same way. i think L+L is the only place that sells frame mounts for this swap. if there are others i am sure someone will chime in. i am sure with a little modification you could build something that would work.

The L&L mounts are worth the money. I guarantee you they will last through the 3rd world war!! I'd stick with all L&L parts for this swap - call them on the phone; they specialze in these kind of swaps -that's ALL they do...
