[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-Sep-02 AT 08:41 PM (EST)]My backup lights won't work on me. All fuses are good, bulbs good, no power to back connections. Where do I start to find the problem.
Does any one know an easy way to slide the whole vent window assemble off the center divieder. I tried WD-40 but to no avail.
on mine, i rolled the window down, unscrewed the 3 screws, then unbolted the track from the door, laid it back towards the rear of the door, and gave the vent window a good yank

Most likely a bad reverse light switch or bad connection at it. I believe on an automatic it is located on the bottom of the column, on a manual underneath the floor pan. My manual tranny'd truck just had a loose connector at the reverse light switch. Had to tear apart the whole cab to get to it though!
Your combination Back-up light/neutral safety switch has gone bad.
it is located on the linkage on the side of the transmission.
You will need to remove it > clean it and/or replace it.
I clean mine with varsol/gunk mixture then spray electrical cleaner in the adjustment hole and then blow air in it.
i had the same problem with my back-up lights. i knew it was the switch somewhere when you put it into reverse. but instead of taking the time and effort to locate it and replace it, i just hooked up the stock reverse lights to the single tractor light i have on the bumper. now it all runs from a switch, which is nice because some times you want to reverse lights on but you're not in reverse, and sometimes you want to not have the lights on when in reverse (like in the day, its a waste). just my humble opinion though.
