VIN number

VIN number
I recently purchased a believed to be 1953 F100. I found the vin number in the glove box. Yet, I am having difficulty finding a free site to verify the vin/year. Can anyone help?

If it's a 53 F100 the vin will look something like:
*F10_3_123456*
First underscore will be R or D for engine code
Second underscore will be assembly plant and there were 16 of those.
Last six digits are the production unit number.

A great bunch of folks here who will not only help you with your VIN decode, but help with all sorts of other questions and parts you may need. As soon as you get a chance, take some photos and set up your gallery. We all love to slobber over project trucks and see what the next guy/gal is doing with their truck. 
We keep a family friendly atmosphere going here so no need to worry about being hammered as a new member. You might get a good-natured ribbing periodically as part of the package, though.
