Hundreds and hundreds of them in my garage !!! Can anyone tell me how to keep them out ? I researched the enemy and found that they tend to "migrate" this time of year and my garage must be in their path. While harmless, they pile up dead in my garage faster than I can sweep em out. I tried insecticide in front of the bay doors, but that barly slowed them down. I'm thinkig a physical barrier might work like adhisive tape like we used to keep Gypsy moths off of our trees with.
I have them in my garage and found that carb cleaner shrivals them almost instantly. Not good for a long term fix but can provide a few minutes of entertainment inbetween repairs.Lots of spiders and potato bugs to.Fat250
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for torturing bugs, but carb cleaner is kind of pricy and when I'm really in a spitfull mood I sccop a few of the creepy crawlies up and dump em in the tropical fish tank, but I would just like to prevent them from getting in the garage. I suppose I could fid out what they eat and lure them away from the garage, but then there's that whole swarming/migration thing
Lights around the shop tend to draw all kinds of flying critters, that die and drop, bringing the crawly bugs. Killing the lights will help with the problem, but most folks want the lights for security purposes.
Spiders, you need lots of spiders to catch the millipedes. Then get some mice to catch the spiders. Do you see where this is going?
And then you need a cat for the mice and then a bb gun for the cat. And then you start all over again.
There is a powder that I bought at home depot that works good for crawling bugs. You just make a line with it all around your house/garage and they don't cross it because it repels them. I don't remember what it is called and I am far from home now.

I've seen something similar at the dollar stores, comes in a chalk form with some chinese writting on the box. Draw lines with the chalk around the perimeter and most bugs stay away. Probably has boric acid.
I've had a similar millipede problem, they seem to be attracted to pools of oil, my side cover leaks a bit and there is always a fresh pool of oil in the garage that is generally full to the brim with millipedes. Maybe that’s the answer. A shallow pool of oil to attract them.
I use engine degreaser to mark a perimeter around anywhere you don't want ants to cross, works immediately and keeps them out for many days. You try this for you creepy crawleys. Cheers!
The University of Kentucky has a first class entomology (sp?) department that is on line. Might check that out to see if they have ideas. they helped me get rid of carpenter ants a couple years ago with some of their strategies.
