Moved my air temp sensor

After installing the NAPA filter, I saw a drop of about 1 mpg. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not sorry I did the mod, cause my stock air box was junk. But I always wondered if the the temp sensor always getting warmer readings was the culprit. So last weekend I moved the sensor to the duct that comes from the front of the grill. Drilled a hole in the duct & had to splice the wires. While moving, the sensor will get fresh air & while idling, at least it will be shielded from the underhood warm air. Still working on a way to enclose the filter & get a little more fresh air flow to it. We'll see if mileage improves or not. Any thoughts?

Unfortunately, it won't make any difference. The PCM only uses the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor to operate the exhaust backpressure system and to determine the cold idle set point.

The temperature based fuel and timing adjustments are made based on the manifold air temperature (MAT) sensor, which is located in the compressor manifold downstream of the intercooler.
